The initiative is actively educating the community about sustainable living practices. These educational efforts aim to empower residents to make positive changes that benefit both the environment and their daily lives.
One of the most noteworthy features of the project is its commitment to incorporating native trees into the urban environment and bringing back to life ancient forest.
Overall, the project is demonstrating that cities can prioritize green initiatives while providing ample space for residents to connect with Nature. By supporting communities to take action, we can build a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

The site has been overgrown with Bramble but as this is an early succession plant that provides shelter and protection from bark eating animals, the trees are still doing well although growing slower than expected. As the young trees grow and shade out the Bramble, they will die back.

“Situated in the centre of Bristol this project aims to turn an abandoned plot of land into a vibrant area of forest. On one side is a local school and on the other a busy city road. So it’s hoped the forest will act as a buffer for the school and children as well as provide refuge for local wildlife and biodiversity formation.”
