For over 130 years, Zion Baptist Church has stood as an integral part of the community, serving as a catalyst for love, truth, justice, and equity. Rooted in North Minneapolis, home to the largest concentration of African-Americans in Minnesota, it remains steadfast in their commitment to listen, heal, serve, and support our residents.
In collaboration with the WE WIN Institute, the partnership has flourished for over a decade, nurturing a vegetable and flower garden in tandem with the University of Minnesota’s Arboretum. With a focus on cultural heritage, WE WIN is dedicated to fostering the social and academic success of all children.
Now, with the introduction of a pocket forest, we aim to create a natural oasis, offering a sanctuary for reflection, meditation, and communal connection. This sanctuary not only serves the community but also supports local wildlife, including birds like the loggerhead shrike.
