Just a short walk from the local school, Nature Lab Forest will become a vibrant living classroom - a place where children and communities reconnect with the natural world. Sixty local schoolchildren will plant the trees, marking the start of a three-year journey rooted in care, curiosity, and hands-on discovery. Each semester, students will return to witness the forest grow, learn to identify native species, build shelters, and immerse themselves in the magic of outdoor learning.
Beyond the classroom, Nature Lab Forest will serve as a hub for environmental education and inspiration. Corentin, who works on the farm, leads dynamic workshops for adults and families, offering practical knowledge on pocket forests, food forests, soil regeneration, and ecological restoration.
The forest will also take center stage during the Forest Garden Festival on 27–28 September 2025, drawing visitors from across Belgium and beyond. Over the weekend, guests will engage with biodiversity in action, experience the Miyawaki planting method, and explore sustainable land stewardship up close.

“The site of Nature lab forest used to be a former storage area for fill dirt. Heavy machinery compacted the soil and degraded the land. My wish is to show that it is possible to restore nature even on degraded land, by planting a pocket forest which will inspire many visitors and school children to learn about nature and to care for the land and biodiversity.”
