Located in La Pintana, Santiago de Chile, "La Casa del Encuentro" stands as a pivotal community hub with a primary focus on nurturing early childhood development and supporting parenthood. The center caters to children ranging from 0 to 6 years old, as well as expectant mothers and prospective parents. Given La Pintana's designation as a zone of high social priority, the center's role assumes paramount significance.
Their approach is founded upon a well-balanced blend of clinical and community-driven methodologies, with a strong emphasis on mental health and proactive care. Through strategic partnerships with universities and governmental bodies, "La Casa del Encuentro" provides free professional psychological assistance and specialized guidance encompassing social aspects. Additionally, it extends legal advocacy in cases involving rights infringements, notably severe instances, through the Protection Office (OPD) provided by the municipality. This collaborative endeavor firmly establishes the headquarters of "La Casa del Encuentro" as a focal point and benchmark within the local community.

An increase in bird species has been observed, including chercanes, cachuditos, tórtolas, tordos, chincoles, gorriones, tiuques, and zorzales. With the arrival of spring, exotic ladybirds, scarab beetles, dragonflies, and spittle fly larvae on romerillo were also noted, along with cabbage white and common satyr butterflies. Lizards have appeared in early September, and fungi were present along the edges of the path during winter.

Urban Heat Profile
The Urban Heat Island Effect is affecting cities more and more each year and temperetures in urban areas can go up to 12 degrees hotter. This can be reduced and prevented by planting urban forests like this. We collected the air temperatures on a hot day in September at La Casa del Encuentro Forest and saw amazing results.

“The site, a large unused dusty space, now aims to become a park to welcome the neighbors of Casa del Encuentro, whether as a playground and recreation area for children and their caregivers, or as a peaceful waiting area for patients who come to the place seeking mental health care and family legal assistance.”
