Docusign.org, a global initiative launched by Docusign in 2024, is recognized for its strategic philanthropic partnerships and commitment to social impact.
Their mission to enable climate action, protect ecosystems and support local communities aligns seamlessly with SUGi’s dedication to building biodiversity, climate resilience and community wellbeing. Through this partnership, Docusign.org is helping to pave the way for a more sustainable future by protecting the planet for future generations and scaling global impact.
In October 2024, SUGi and Docusign.org planted the first pocket forest of this partnership in Seattle, USA and are now expanding globally.

Seattle Unity Forest
The forest was planted on the grounds of North Seattle College (NSC), recognised nationally as a leader in sustainability among associate colleges. NSC grounds hold over 11 acres of wetland that are home to a variety of animal species, including the Great Blue Heron. The addition of this forest will create a distinct ecosystem and provide habitat for species like the Pacific Tree Frog, further enriching the biodiversity on campus.
The forest is nestled on grounds near Licton Springs - an area known to the Lushootseed Coast Salish peoples as líq’tәd, meaning "reddish mud”. For thousands of years, the Dkhw’Duw’Absh (People of the Inside) and Xacuabš (People of the Large Lake), ancestors of the present-day Duwamish Tribe, used this site as a spiritual health spa and place of restoration. With this forest, the site will continue to offer a space of relaxation and reflection for the 4,675 students enrolled at NSC.

Scoil Aoife Forest
Located in the western suburbs of Dublin, Scoil Aoife has a long tradition of environmental education as a member of Ireland’s national Green-Schools programme, helping introduce Nature curricula for young students. The primary school pupils have previously learned how to care for flower beds on school grounds, and will now become forest keepers too.
This pocket forest will have a direct impact on the local environment. Situated near a busy circular road and a large concrete manufacturing plant, the forest will help improve air quality around the school, contributing to a cleaner, greener environment.

Msitu Classroom
A 400 sq m pocket forest is being planted at the University of Nairobi’s Faculty of Business and Management Sciences. With over 1,200 native trees of more than 50 species, the forest will act as a living seed bank, helping to preserve biodiversity in a city where green cover is rapidly shrinking. The university students will be hands-on in its creation, gaining real-world training in urban forestry, ecological restoration, and sustainable land management. More than 2,000 learners are expected to benefit from this open-air classroom — a rare opportunity in an increasingly urbanized Nairobi.
The forest also carries symbolic weight. Just 30 minutes away lies Thogoto Forest, an ecologically and culturally important area that serves as a place of worship and community gathering for ceremonies and spiritual rituals. Once cut in two by the Southern Bypass, parts of Thogoto have been overtaken by housing developments and are now under pressure from logging and urban expansion. Meanwhile, Karura Forest’s Sigiria section, just 20 minutes from campus, stands as a nearby example of successful urban conservation.

"Sustainability is a core value at Docusign and we are honored to support the Unity Forest in Seattle. Our partnership with SUGi helps to support the rewilding of community spaces in regions where we live and work. Through Docusign.org, we bring the strength of our products, people, and resources together to create stronger communities and a more sustainable planet."
