Nestled within the GROW farm at The Totteridge Academy, the GROW Farm Forest is a vibrant new pocket forest made up of 700 trees, spanning 200 square meters. This living classroom enhances the farm's biodiversity while offering a powerful new space for outdoor learning and environmental stewardship.
Each year, hundreds of people visit the GROW farm through volunteering, events, and community and school-based programmes. The pocket forest will contribute to the farm’s health, biodiversity, and beauty, while creating additional and valuable learning opportunities for the local community.
This forest further reflects GROW’s commitment to agroecological farming and community empowerment - a growing hub of climate resilience, hands-on education, and ecological restoration. By engaging students, volunteers, and local residents in every stage of the forest’s creation, the project cultivates a deeper connection to nature and inspires the next generation of land stewards. The forest will support pollinators, enrich soil, and capture carbon, while also providing a peaceful, green space for reflection, learning, and growth.

Forest Design
This pocket forest blends circular planting with natural woodland to create a space that is both ecological and educational. Designed with a pathway and fire circle area, the forest also provides space for community gatherings, outdoor learning, and reflection. The layout promotes connection between people and place, supporting GROW’s mission of ecological education rooted in community care.

Planting: November 2025

“The pocket forest will contribute to our farm's health, biodiversity, and beauty whilst creating additional and valuable learning opportunities for our community.”
