SUGi Walks

After a short winter hibernation, SUGi Walks has made its way back to the British capital.
We kicked off the season in May, and over the course of the summer almost 300 nature lovers joined Adrian, SUGi UK Forest Lead, for a guided stroll through some of central London’s hidden pockets of biodiversity.
Participants visited a selection of SUGi Pocket Forests dotted around the city — from Heritage Forest to Serenity Forest — learning about the native species that now call these once-forgotten spaces home. From spotting an occupied fox den and an early blooming crab apple tree to learning how pocket forests in London can cool their surroundings by several degrees, the walk offered a fresh look at the city through a wilder lens.
“A large tree fell in our Heritage Forest — it had been in decline for a few years now — but the gap in the canopy created a large sunspot on the forest floor, encouraging ground cover and new growth around the tree stump.”

“Meanwhile, our Serenity Forest has really begun filling out as it turns 2.5 years old and has become a wonderful small woodland to walk through.”

Whether you’re curious about how these forests grow, want to learn more about urban biodiversity, or are just looking to spend some time outside with like-minded people, SUGi Walks are a chance to slow down and reconnect — with nature, and with each other.
“Fantastic walk discovering SUGi Pocket Forests across London. Each was a unique community rewilding experience backed by this incredible technique to accelerate growth and quality of impact,” said one participant.
